A gold colored metal and enamel device 1 inches (3.18 cm) in height consisting of a gold annulet behind two white rolled scrolls in saltire surmounted by a scarlet and blue Taeguk charged with a gold cross patte, all within a gold scroll the upper part inscribed "ADAPTING" and the lower "TO THE NEEDS" in blue letters.
The annulet, symbol of continuous renewal, stands for the Replacement Battalion. The two crossed scrolls represent the administrative processing involved in the receiving and dispersal of personnel and stock replacements. The two scrolls and the annulet also simulate two ones and a zero and refer to the unit's numerical designation. The Taeguk, from the Korean flag, refers to the Battalion's unit awards for action in Korea; the cross, from the coat of arms of Rome, Italy, refers to its service in that country during World War II.
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 6 September 1967.
